A different way to deal with workplace conflict and disputes

Do any of these occur in your organisation?

  • Bullying/harassment/personality clashes
  • Long term sickness caused by workplace stress
  • Communication breakdowns
  • Line managers not having the tools to identify and tackle problems early
  • Higher than usual incidence of grievances/tribunal claims or disciplinary appeals

CIPD research shows that employment tribunals cost employers a total of £7,484 per year in settling tribunals out of court, paying compensation awarded by tribunals, taking legal advice and recruiting replacements for employees who have left following a dispute.  The survey also finds that where employers train in mediation skills, they are more likely to have fewer disciplinary and grievance cases.

Early intervention and preventative strategies save time and money.

One of our clients has said:

"I have just, for the first time, used the services of a workplace mediator at my firm and have gone from not even knowing that such services exist to being a huge supporter of the idea." HR manager in Oxfordshire.

Our local panel of workplace mediators have many years experience in the UK and overseas, working with employers to manage and reduce conflict in the workplace – much of which is conflict between employees. Mediation is also a service solicitors can offer their clients before disputes get to grievance or disciplinary stages, or pre-tribunal. We also offer training for managers and HR professionals in conflict management skills.
